SIKHS BEFORE & NOW !!
It’s very painful & disheartening to see the plight of Sikhs today. It’s just been 318 years or so since the formation of Khalsa and the look of Khalsa had changed drastically which of course is against Sikh Rehat Maryada. The journey of a Sikh is incomplete until he becomes Khalsa after having the Amrit introduced by Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaj.
Over the last few years, especially since of couple of decades the looks of Sikhs had changed astonishingly and few self called Sikhs have made themselves a joke in front of the world which also brings bad name to Gursikhs.
Today, certain greedy, less informed & brain washed, self called Sikhs openly admit that they are part of Hindusim and only they know the reason behind it. They don’t follow an iota of Sikh Rehat Maryada but still want to be the thekedaars of the community. It’s just because of such self called Sikhs that Sikhs are being represented as jokes in tv serials, movies etc..and identity of Sikhs is getting confused amongst non-Sikhs.
There was time when Sikh parents use to ask their sons with pride to tie turban and their daughters to cover their heads.. But today, it’s history. Can’t expect sons to wear turbans when their father is himself wearing caps and clean shaved.. Can’t expect daughter’s to keep their heads covered if mothers are ill dressed..
Without going deep into the matter, I feel it’s high time that parents lead as an example before their children, learn the basics of Sikhs and teach their children, else it would be too late to be back into Sikhi.
